Vipeel Cosmetics has distinguished itself in the crowded beauty landscape through its line of luxurious, high-quality skincare products. Their offerings, richly infused with natural ingredients, focus on enhancing skin health and radiance.
Their flagship product, Vipeel, is a revolutionary chemical peel that targets a myriad of skin problems - from aging skin to acne and sun damage.
However, the true potential of this product lies in its meticulous step-by-step application process, a journey the user must undertake to unlock long-lasting skin health.
The Designer’s Hat
In the small, yet dynamic team of designers, I found myself amidst a creative whirlwind. Tasked with conducting competitive research, creating screen designs for an array of existing and upcoming app features, my contribution formed the backbone of the new, enhanced Vipeel app.
Over a span of nine months, we poured our creativity, expertise, and countless work hours into the project. This duration allowed us to meticulously examine, revise, and perfect each aspect of the UX design, aiming for a flawless and user-friendly experience.
My focus was on creating low and high fidelity mockups using Adobe XD that showcased the improvements to navigation.
Pain Points
The original Vipeel app was an enigma wrapped in complexity. Glitches marred the user experience, while confusing directions left users lost and disoriented, often resorting to the physical pamphlet provided in the kit.
Our problem statement revolved around the design of an enjoyable and concise user flow. We aimed to emphasize the key features of the app while supporting users with intuitive navigation.
Despite our meticulous planning, we faced the constraint of not being able to conduct user testing with the existing user base. This limitation was due to a lack of support from stakeholders in facilitating user research, a hurdle that led us to rely heavily on persona-based scenarios.

Our focus remained on those struggling with skin conditions, individuals desperate for an effective solution. Our design intended to simplify their journey, providing them with a digital companion that guided them through the complexities of skin health.

I worked on the wireframes to map out the features and what the layout will look like. With a total of 89+ screens, I was able to have an end-to-end view of the app before making the high-fidelity mockups.
Mockup
The new onboarding page is design to draw the user in for a new beginning. Users are presented with simple sign up options, and even given the opportunity to enter as a guest to have a look without committing personal information.
The homepage is a window into the different feature offerings of the of the app. The minimalism in design and color choice pairs well with the bold colors that draw users to explore new products.
The diary feature is a key component of the Vipeel app redesign, allowing users to effectively track their skincare progress through notes and photographs. It provides a visual representation of the skin's evolution over time, creating a personalized and tangible narrative of the user's skincare journey. This feature not only engages users by giving them a platform to document and reflect on their experiences, but also reinforces the effectiveness of the Vipeel products, as users can see their own transformations unfolding right in the app.
Moving forward, the Vipeel application could benefit from further enhancing its personalized user experience. This could include implementing features such as AI-driven product recommendations based on skin progress and personal preferences, and personalized reminders for reordering products when they're about to run out.
